AFTER INTERVIEWING, MAKE ONE MORE IMPRESSION
AFTER INTERVIEWING, MAKE
ONE MORE IMPRESSION
No matter how well you think the interview went, your last impression is crucial. Even after you leave, you still have the chance to set yourself apart from the herd. Here’s how.
FOLLOW UP WITH EVERYONE.
Get the hiring manager’s contact info during the interview and send a follow-up thank-you note or email. Also send a note to each person you talked to. Say you’re grateful for their time and remind them one last time (be specific) why you’re excited about this position and what you think you would bring to it. Send it at least a few hours after your interview, but within 24 hours. This puts your name in front of the hiring manager one more time and communicates that you’re thoughtful and motivated.
DON’T STOP LOOKING.
This one can be tough. Unfortunately, the unemployment line is filled with people who nailed interviews. If you don’t hear anything back, you should follow up a few days later. But no matter how well you think it went, until you have an offer, you don’t have the job. Keep up the hustle while you’re waiting to hear. Worst-case scenario, you end up with multiple offers to consider. And that can only be a good thing.
