Working withRecruiters
When it comes to networking, fortune favors the bold. As a member of the military community, you’re already way ahead of the game. Here’s how to make the most out of the networks you already have and how to build some new ones.

Use LinkedIn
Recruiters are on LinkedIn to interact. You might also be able to connect with a group of veterans within a company that can give you information about that business and help you connect with the right person.
Attend Job Fairs
You’ll be sure to meet recruiters at fairs on military installations. Recruiters also attend fairs that are held by organizations that support specific occupations and groups—for instance, the National Association of Safety Professionals.
Bring Your Resume to Life
Offer concrete examples of what you did in a specific military mission that illustrates your qualifications. Once you’ve found a recruiter, this will give them what they need to shop you around.
Be Open to Relocation
A recruiter can do only so much if you’re set on one geographic area. Consider opportunities in unexpected places.
Proactively Communicate Career Dreams
Show the recruiter how their company can leverage your skills. Then explain what you want to do with your career. The recruiter can help you find a good match.
Explore Veteran Recruiters
Seek out recruiting firms in your desired industry. Many are in the business of helping veterans and will be happy to assist you at no cost.
